Internet with no minimum term in Belgium
Some Belgian internet plans are sold with no minimum term, meaning you can stop them month by month. They generally cost a few euros more than the committed equivalent and more often waive the installation fee than the monthly price. Belgian telecom law also limits what any residential customer can be charged to leave early.
As of August 31, 2026, a no-term plan is worth the premium in exactly three situations: a stay in Belgium of uncertain length, a temporary address, or a building where fibre is about to arrive and you expect to change technology. Outside those cases, the protections Belgian law already gives residential customers make the extra monthly cost hard to justify.

What the Belgian rules already give you
Belgium regulates early termination of residential telecom contracts. The law caps what an operator may charge you to leave during a minimum term, and removes that charge entirely once an initial period has passed. BIPT publishes the rule in force and applies it to every operator on its register.
Separately, an unfavourable change to your contract conditions opens a right to terminate without penalty within the period stated in the operator's notice. That covers most price increases imposed during a contract, which is the situation people fear most.
The practical consequence is that a Belgian committed contract is far less binding than the word suggests. Paying a permanent monthly premium to avoid a charge you may never face is only rational if your situation is genuinely uncertain.
When the flexibility genuinely pays
If you have arrived on a contract that may not be renewed, or you are house-hunting and expect to move within the year, the ability to stop cleanly is worth real money. The same applies to a temporary address between two homes.
It also pays where you expect the technology to change. If fibre is being rolled out in your street, a no-term plan lets you move to it without negotiating an exit from a contract signed on the old network.
Note that no minimum term is not the same as no notice. Almost every Belgian operator asks for a notice period before the line stops, and equipment has to be returned. Read both clauses, because an unreturned modem is billed.
