Easy Switch
Easy Switch is the Belgian procedure that lets you change telecom operator by entrusting the cancellation of your old contract to the new one. It exists to limit the interruption of service and to preserve your telephone numbers. You take no step at all with the operator you are leaving.
What it changes in practice
Before Easy Switch, the subscriber had to coordinate cancellation and subscription personally, with a high risk of being billed twice or of losing service for weeks between two contracts.
With Easy Switch, the incoming operator becomes the single point of contact: it triggers the termination, books the activation and owns the calendar. You supply a code identifying your current contract.
The procedure does not remove early termination compensation on a running commitment, and it does not remove the obligation to return the previous operator's modem and decoder.
Frequently asked questions
Where do I find my Easy Switch code?
On your invoice, in your customer portal or on letters from your operator, sometimes labelled as a migration identifier. Your current operator is required to give you the code on request, without conditions attached.
Does Easy Switch guarantee no interruption?
It reduces the interruption strongly but does not always eliminate it. On an existing line the gap is usually a few hours; on a new connection or a change of technology a longer interruption remains possible.
